Description

The year 2024 belongs to the dragon, and in Chinese mythology it is a majestic beast that inhabits rivers, lakes, oceans and roams the sky. The Chinese dragon sign falls in the years: 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012 and 2024.

The obverse of the Year of the Dragon coin is decorated with the image of Queen Elizabeth II. and the inscriptions “ELIZABETH II” and “AUSTRALIA”.

The coin portrays a coloured Chinese dragon and a flaming pearl, a symbol of wisdom.  The reverse also features the Chinese character for “dragon”, the inscription “DRAGON 2024” and the letter “P”, the mint mark of The Perth Mint.

The coin is supplied in a blister with a certificate. The blister is perforated so that it can be made into a stand.
