Perth Mint is excited to announce the new release of the Australian Bird of Paradise Series. The 2018 Silver coin struck by 1 oz with .999 fine silver shows a Victoria Bird of Paradise with stretched wings on a branch. It is a small bird, appreciated for its stunning plumage. The single coin come in a plastic capsule.
The coin’s obverse side bears the Lan Rank-Broadley image of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The image is encircled by the inscription of “ELIZABETH II,” country name “AUSTRALIA,” year of issue “2018”, and the face value “1 DOLLAR”.
The reverse side of the coin features Victoria’s Riflebird species. The bird is also known as “duwuduwu” in 1848, Scottish Naturalist John noted his sighting and then named her “Queen Victoria” after the current reigning monarch. Along with this, the inscription “AUSTRALIAN BIRD OF PARADISE” and weight and purity are engraved on it.
