A planetary ring is a collection of solid particles that surround a planet and are present in such large numbers that they appear as a ring-like structure, forming a concentric ring system. Each of the four gaseous planets within our solar system has such a ring system, with the rings of the planet Saturn being the most extensive and best visible with a telescope, which is why they were the first planetary rings to be discovered. The second most extensive ring system surrounds the planet Uranus, followed by Neptune. The planetary rings of the gas giant Jupiter are the weakest and very inconspicuous. The ring systems of the four planets are finely structured, contain numerous particles of rock and ice and have an extension of several tens of thousands of kilometers in width. The “The Universe – Planetary Ring coin in color” is delivered in a protective capsule including an illustrated product card.
